Cleats and Touchdowns

We ready, we ready, for yall! I remember these words clear as day running through the tunnel of smoke, crowd of people yelling. As I ran through the end zone I remember the first time I made my first touchdown ever. We were lined up for kickoff return. It was our first game of the year.  Christian Brothers walked out across and lined up to kick the ball. The crowd started to make this noise aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh and when the ball was the crowd yelled yuuuuuuaaahhhhh.
Standing on the ten yard line beside Andreas and Jalen turnt around looking back at us. ME! ME! ME! I called the ball and it came down like a diving show plane pop right in my arms and the race was on. I took off running and in front of me was a crowd of blue, white, red, black, and gold. I closed my eyes and I ran through untouched I opened my eyes and saw I was in front of everybody. I took off running full speed and I started to get tired and my head started to till back as if I was shaving under my chin. The crowd roared as I hear over the speakers touchdown Patriots! Standing in the end zone looking for the referee so I could return him the ball it all hit me I just made a touchdown and I was so happy.
Walking out the end zone just making the mistake of letting Jarvis make a touchdown. I ran to the sideline and Coach Gray said”What happen son.”
I replied “I tried to split the defenders and he cut outside and took off.”
“Well damn son that don’t mean just go running in and remember don’t give up your outside shoulder.”
I walked down the sideline and they told me its okay and don’t worry about it. The offense was unable to make a touchdown or a field goal so defense had to go back on the field. So I was running back on the field and when we lined up they shouted “we got to score its 30 secs left.”  They took the ball to the air and it was batted down by Brian Scott. The buzzer sounded meaning the end of the first half and I was walking to the locker room talking to Kenneth Connely bout the game and he said “ don’t be nervous just play yo game and think about it as pre game or practice.”
I replied, “I ain’t nervous.”
We got in the field house and we were still talking and he reminded me just think of bout the time you spent chilling in the locker room. That’s what I did as the coaches were talking.
Sitting down thinking about the before the game I remember coming from the church with Ashton Heard by the tailgaters of West Memphis giving them the finger and shouting at them. We get up to the gravel road walking up behind the West Memphis buses, looking at them as we walked past them. Right before I got to the field house Jakyra walked up told me good luck and kissed me.  I walked into the field house and I chilled before the game and going to the game behind the tunnel of smoke they started chanting we ready, we ready, for yall!
